~About Devon Rex~

The Devon Rex has been developed from a kitten named Kirlee who was born to a stray cat in Devonshire England in 1959.

Today's genetically pure Devon Rex still have the true look of their founder -- huge ears, set low on the sides of the head frame,

a pixie-like face with large, inquisitive eyes and a short slightly upturned nose.

The coat is wavey and curly but can range from an uneven texture with splotches of bare skin all the way to an overall heavy thick coat.

The Devon Rex is known for it’s playful personality, and inquisitive behavior.

The Devon Rex is an affectionate, loving, loyal and people-oriented lap cat.

They are playful in a fun-loving way.

They are a good choice for the owner who wants a cat that will participate in the family life.

Although many Devon Rex can be friendly and outgoing, there are also many others that are shy around strangers.

Because of their extremely short, fine textured coat with minimal shedding, many people consider the Devon Rex to be allergy friendly.

However, the American Shorthair & British Shorthair are both heavily coated, shedding cats that many breeders use as allowable outcrosses for the Devon Rex.
